Temenos SaaS is helping power the launch of BEA International Bank in France, marking a key step in the European expansion strategy of Algerian lender Banque Extérieure d’Algérie.
The new bank has implemented Temenos SaaS solutions, including the Temenos Core Banking system and Financial Crime Mitigation tools. These technologies will support BEA International Bank’s digital banking services as it begins operations in France.
The move reflects growing demand for cloud-based banking platforms that enable financial institutions to launch services quickly while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Temenos SaaS supports BEA International Bank launch
The Temenos SaaS deployment forms the technological foundation for BEA International Bank’s operations in France.
The institution received approval to establish its French subsidiary in January 2025 from both the French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority and the European Central Bank.
Following regulatory approval, the bank officially launched operations in November the same year.
BEA International Bank operates three branches in France located in Paris, Marseille and Saint-Denis.
The bank is led by managing director Mohammed-Lamine Lebbou and focuses on providing financial services to the Algerian diaspora living in France.
Temenos SaaS enables digital banking services
The Temenos SaaS platform allows the bank to offer modern banking products while meeting strict regulatory requirements in the European financial market.
Customers can access a range of services including current accounts, savings accounts and financing options such as mortgages.
The SaaS deployment also includes tools designed to support financial crime prevention and regulatory reporting tailored to French banking regulations.
These systems help ensure compliance while allowing the bank to operate efficiently in a highly regulated financial environment.
Temenos SaaS supports international expansion
Banque Extérieure d’Algérie said the partnership with Temenos is part of a broader strategy to expand its banking services in France and across Europe.
Cloud-based banking platforms allow financial institutions to scale operations more quickly than traditional on-premise systems.
By using Temenos SaaS, the bank can deploy new services, manage compliance and adapt to regulatory changes more efficiently.
Technology services company LTIMindtree supported the deployment as the implementation partner for the project.
Temenos SaaS reflects fintech transformation
The use of SaaS highlights how financial institutions are increasingly turning to software-as-a-service solutions to modernize their operations.
SaaS-based core banking systems reduce the need for complex internal infrastructure while enabling faster product launches and improved digital customer experiences.
Banks adopting cloud technology can also integrate new financial services more easily, including digital payments, analytics and fraud prevention tools.
Temenos also allows institutions to maintain continuous updates and security improvements through centralized software management.
Temenos SaaS and legacy banking systems
Banque Extérieure d’Algérie has historically relied on the Amplitude core banking platform developed by Sopra Banking Software.
That system was widely used across several financial institutions before Sopra Steria sold the platform to French-American technology company Axway in 2024.
The shift toward Temenos signals a broader move toward modern cloud infrastructure as banks expand internationally.
For BEA International Bank, the new technology platform will support growth in France while providing the digital capabilities required in today’s competitive financial market.
As fintech adoption accelerates across Europe, platforms such as Temenos SaaS are becoming central to how banks launch new services and expand into global markets.
