World Bank Appoints Carolina Rendón in Dominican Republic
The Carolina Rendón World Bank appointment marks a new chapter for the institution’s presence in the Dominican Republic. Ms. Rendón has officially assumed the role of Resident Representative, taking over from Alexandria Valerio, who served in the position for the past five years.
From her base in Santo Domingo, Rendón will lead policy dialogue with government authorities, civil society, and development partners. An Experienced Public Sector Leader
A Peruvian national, Carolina Rendón began her career at the World Bank in 2005. Since then, she has worked as a Public Sector Specialist across several regions, including Latin America, Europe, Central Asia, and Africa. She also led the governance portfolio in Romania, focusing on justice reform, digital governance, and public sector management.
Most recently, Rendón served as the World Bank’s Resident Representative in Uruguay, where she played a central role in program delivery and stakeholder engagement.
Notably, she contributed to the Participatory Anti-Corruption Initiative (IPAC) in the Dominican Republic between 2010 and 2012—an initiative promoting transparency and citizen engagement in government decisions.
